Who are they?
There seems to be a lot of misconceptions about L.O.H.® (Ladies of Harley®).
Ladies of Harley® (L.O.H.® ) is a program sponsored by the Harley Owners Group to support women motorcycle enthusiasts both drivers and passengers. It does not matter whether you are a passenger or ride your own, you can be a part of L.O.H.® ! Ladies of Harley® was established to encourage women to become more active in H.0.G.® and in their local chapters.
Did you know being a member of Ladies of Harley® is FREE?
It is not, however, automatic. If you are a national H.0.G.® member, you can join, regardless of whether you are a full, life, or associate member. You must contact H.0.G.® and tell them you’d like to be a member of L.O.H.® Just go to Harley® Owners Group, log into the members only area, then go to Update Membership Profile. Click the yes option for L.O.H.® and you’re done! After you’ve joined, you will receive a L.O.H.® embroidered patch and an L.O.H.® pin each year in addition to the annual H.0.G.® patch and pin. It is not a separate organization within H.0.G.® , simply an added benefit for female members and established to encourage women to become more active in H.0.G.® and their local chapters. You will also qualify to participate in extra programs such as ABCs of Touring and the H.0.G.® Mileage Program just for starters.
H.0.G.® enthusiastically encourages women to join in on our events and come on our rides, although L.O.H.® members do not have to be riders.
When an event is labelled ‘L.O.H.®’ it does not mean that it’s for ladies only, men are always welcome and encouraged to attend and support their ladies. It simply means that the event has been organized by L.O.H.®
Why Women Ride?
There are lots of reasons why women decide to ride as a biker or passenger a Harley® and that list is as long as the open road itself. Here are some of the common reasons why women decide to climb into the saddle – even after being a passenger for years!
Adventure – There aren’t many options left for the person seeking pure, unadulterated adventure. Luckily, the excitement-hungry can still climb on their Harley® and ride off into the sunset, finding excitement and exhilaration and discovering new sights and experiences by riding the open road.
Camaraderie – No other motorcycle company has helped forge as many relationships as Harley-Davidson® through H.0.G.® and L.O.H.® All over the world, Harley® riders are finding a sense of community and companionship with other riders who are seeking to get together to share their experiences on the road. Some of them even end up meeting that special someone, finding a common passion in the excitement of riding.
Freedom – There’s nothing like the feeling of climbing atop a rumbling Harley®, roaring off safely and temporarily leaving all of your everyday responsibilities behind in the dust. When you’re on the road, you answer only to yourself.
How you spend your time is up to you. More women than ever before are enjoying the sport of motorcycling. With your help, Ladies of Harley® will continue to serve members’ needs in the future.
How Do You Join L.O.H.®?
It is important to know that L.O.H.® is not a separate group from H.O.G.®. It is an additional benefit, FREE of charge but participation is not automatic. When you become a National member of H.O.G.® as a full or an associate member, you will need to indicate that you also want to be a member of L.O.H.®. Ladies of Harley offers members a special embroidered patch and pin during the first year of membership, and each renewal year receive an indicating the year of membership.
